Meet Marcus Nelson, a seasoned brand storyteller with an exceptional ability to craft compelling narratives for tech giants like Salesforce, Facebook, Instagram, and Box. As a former Director of Product Marketing at Salesforce.com and a three-time startup founder, Marcus brings a wealth of experience and a keen eye for merging technology and storytelling. His journey into the world of writing with AI has fueled his passion for exploring innovative ways to leverage technology in the art of storytelling.
With a deep-rooted belief in the power of words, Marcus's career trajectory was influenced by his fifth-grade math teacher's comment, igniting a drive to never settle for mediocrity. Encouraged by his artist mother to embrace his creative strengths, Marcus ventured into marketing for a record company before venturing into the tech world. Teaching himself coding, WordPress, and design tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, he paved the path for a successful career ahead.
In 2007, Marcus co-founded UserVoice, an internet startup focused on customer feedback, which quickly gained traction. Recognizing the potential of social media for marketing, he joined Salesforce.com, creating their social media marketing department with impeccable timing and effort. Identifying Employee Advocacy as a budding trend in social media marketing, Marcus launched Addvocate in 2012, which eventually garnered significant success and was acquired by a competitor.
Today, Marcus leads a marketing consultancy, helping companies create impactful stories that resonate with consumers' needs and desires. His expertise extends to copywriting, designing marketing collateral, crafting persuasive presentations, and developing branding and messaging strategies to communicate trust and value effectively.
Based in Milwaukee, WI, Marcus finds joy in his role as a parent to three children and cherishes memories of his beloved dog, Rocky (RIP). He remains grateful to Mr. Kowalski, whose early encouragement and critical feedback set him on a path of continuous growth and creative exploration.
