Pia Thompson is the Founder & Fractional General Counsel lawesomeGC. She is a seasoned General Counsel well known for her contagious positivity, ethical rigor, and business acumen. Her lawesomeGC clients include an entertainment industry investment company, Checkbook, and Scratch Financial. Most recently, before lawesomeGC, she was the GC of LoanMe, where she took the company public via a SPAC. She is dedicated to professional development and continuous learning both for herself and her team. She is gratified and challenged by working in the fintech and finance space for the last 20+ years. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States and a GRCP. She is a founding member of TechGC, an independent, invitation-only peer community where General Counsels share knowledge and best practices. She is also an active member of the Private Directors Association, Corporate Boards USA, and the Association of Corporate Counsel – Southern California. 

Pia has a BA in Economics & Political Science from Wellesley College and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. She is a member of The Wellesley Club of Los Angeles and the Illinois State Bar Association. In addition, she is on the Governing Board of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law, and a Board Member & the Legislative Chair of the American Legion Auxiliary (Newport Harbor).
